Motorizing the mill!

Here's how I build my mill!

Sooo. first ya get yourself some 4 by 4's and a piece of plywood, and build your basic table.

Then i marked out the hole I needed to cut out for the mill.

Then i needed to raise the mill up a couple inches to meet up with the motor. I did this by cutting up a piece of 4x4 and bored it out.

Like a glove!

Next i put in 2 switches, the left for on/off and the right so i could run the mill forward or backwards (incase I got my tie caught in there.. heh)

Electric stuff wired from the bottom, just before I added the capacitor.

Then in goes the capacitor.

Getting closer!

Label the switches...

And fire er UP!! Working sweeeeTA!

I then added some height to the hopper, and now it will hold 15 pounds.

 

All done and ready to go!

The Motor:
The thing is a monster.. heh
25 pounds, 1/3 hp, 180 rpm.

The connections from the motor to the mill:
6408K113 - Spider Coupling, Hub, 3/8" Bore, 1-5/64" - goes on the mill
6408K117 - Spider Coupling, Hub, 5/8" Bore, 1-5/64" - goes on the motor
6408K84 - Buna-N Spider For 1-5/64" Outside - fits between em

The capacitor you'll need for the motor:
7602K37 Ac Motor-Run Capacitor, 370 Vac, 45 Microfarad Rating
